How we take this powerful, evidence-based program to a nationwide audience

As I reflect on my two year anniversary as ParentCorps Director, the vision remains the same: To take this powerful, evidence-based program to a nationwide audience.

And the need couldn’t be more pronounced.

There continue to be unprecedented challenges across the education landscape. The current moment in particular feels especially hard, with schools facing a complex set of challenges — absenteeism, learning loss, teacher shortages, widespread mental health problems, panic in immigrant communities, and more — that are disproportionately hurting children in poverty and children of color.

ParentCorps’ evidence-based program remains a formidable solution designed to support our youngest learners and the adults who surround them. While the focus on families seems paramount, we have to equally support educators on the frontlines every single day. The need is great and the work is clear.  As one educator who recently attended our professional development shared:

“This training not only helped me to understand more about how to engage with parents, but also it poured into me. I feel full leaving and inspired to continue to impact others not with just my knowledge or expertise, but with my story.”

- ParentCorps Participant, Baltimore Judy Centers

So far this school year we’ve implemented our professional development and programming across 11 partnerships in four states and Washington DC, reaching 10,000 children and counting.

As always, I want to extend gratitude to the ParentCorps team and to our implementation and philanthropic partners alongside us in the work. The success of ParentCorps is a collective endeavor! But with success comes challenges. The road as a leader is not easy.  It is paved with tough decisions and a whole lot of learning. I remain committed to navigating it all in truth and grace. The stakes are too high and the benefits are absolutely worth it. Onward and upward!

With respect and in solidarity,

-Kai
