Position Summary:
ParentCorps is seeking a hands-on, creative Business Development Manager, who will play a critical role in accelerating sales activities to school districts and Head Starts and helping to grow ParentCorps nationwide.
The Center for Early Childhood Health and Development (CEHD) in the Department of Population Health (DPH) at NYU Grossman School of Medicine conducts research and creates programs to improve the health and development of children.
Based in CEHD, ParentCorps is an evidence-based model that partners with pre-K programs in historically disinvested communities, with proven impacts on children’s long-term mental health, physical health, and academic achievement. In close partnership with pre-K programs, ParentCorps works to build a different pre-K experience – one that centers race and culture, engages parents as partners, and supports children's social-emotional well-being – to help unlock the full promise of early childhood education for children and families. ParentCorps’ impact is endorsed by Blueprints for Healthy Youth Development, the Office of Head Start Early
Childhood Learning and Knowledge Center, Child Trends, and other government and nonprofit organizations. A critical hire in our new National Office, the Business Development Manager will help accelerate sales activities with school district and Head Start customers for ParentCorps' next stage of growth. This Manager will identify prospective school district and Head Start partners, cultivate positive and engaged relationships, win contracts, support renewals with current clients, and codify processes – helping ParentCorps continue our scaling momentum and reach key partnership and revenue goals.
The Business Development Manager will report directly to ParentCorps’ Manager of strategic partnerships and serve as a member of our Growth Strategy Team.
Job Responsibilities:

Build out core sales approach with school district and Head Start customers

Work closely with ParentCorps Director and ParentCorps Manager of strategic partnerships to activate a new kind of sales culture, and embody this function organizationally. Refine processes (e.g., prospecting, pitching, relationship-building, closing, data monitoring, etc.) to iteratively build a sales approach that fits ParentCorps’ unique value proposition in the early childhood education market and stage of scale, integrating best practices where they make sense, rejecting what does not fit, and building new workflows when needed.

Cultivate decision-maker relationships at 4-6 of the top 20 largest public school systems, resulting in submitting solution proposals to 2+ systems within the first year.

Collaborate with Communications/Marketing, Business Development & others to identify areas for collaboration and cross-functional support (e.g., partner with Communications/Marketing to align content objectives with sales objectives, build greater brand awareness, and develop effective targeted emails, social and other creative lead-generating campaigns, etc).

Build and maintain tracking, metrics and reporting systems for ParentCorps’ sales pipeline on Copper (CRM). Track weekly, monthly, and quarterly progress against growth goals and succinctly share updates to leadership.

Provide support to existing customers, and build new relationships

Contribute energy, curiosity and customer solutions to external partner meetings, leveraging strong storytelling and relationship-building skills. Demonstrate deep knowledge of ParentCorps services in order to pitch effectively to school district and Head Start decision makers balancing multiple priorities.

Support annual renewal efforts with current school district and Head Start partners, helping move partners through the defined phases of our “partner roadmap” and leveraging renewal as an opportunity to grow partnerships to their full potential.

Project manage and contribute to RFP strategy

As needed, project manage state and local RFP submissions. Ensure high quality responses with clear and thoughtful writing and editing. Grow RFP response volume from previous year and increase win rates over time, by measuring data, monitoring progress, and refining ongoing efforts.

Policy and public funding

Partner with external experts/consultants to fill knowledge gaps and understand new developments in the early childhood education sales market (e.g., customers, competition, and funding opportunities).

As needed, educate prospective partners on available funding sources that can be used to support partnership.

Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Development, or similar.

A minimum of 3 years of education sales or highly related experience (pre-sales, government sales, business development, edtech, or purchasing in the Pre-K-12 market).

Strong understanding of education market funding streams/curriculum purchasing cycles.
-
Demonstrated track record of building relationships with customers, and passion for activating interest in innovative program models like ParentCorps.

Excellent written/verbal communication, active listening, follow-up, and presentation skills.

Track record of achieving results in revenue generation while maintaining an inclusive, collaborative style.

Deep commitment to advancing equity for children and families in disinvested communities.

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Suite, and CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce, Copper).
Preferred Qualifications:
-
5 years of experience in education sales or highly related experience (pre-sales, government sales, business development, consulting, edtech, or purchasing in the Pre-K-12 market).

Experience selling to, and securing contracts with, large public entities (e.g., government agencies), Head Start programs or school districts.

Familiarity with early childhood, especially knowledge of early childhood education purchasing and funding.

Track record of driving sales processes during dynamic periods of growth.

Spirit of entrepreneurship and comfort with ambiguity as part of a newly created role in ParentCorps’ National Office. Ability to operate with patience, humor and creativity to build new, scalable sales processes in service of transformative impact to children and families.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $92,065.99 – $114,400 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
